Step 1: Scan you dog

Grab the tick as close as it could be without nipping your dog’s skin. 

In a steady, straight motion, pull it out closely. Do not tug, as anything which is left behind can cause infection.

Slide the remover notch under the tick to pull it out. 

Step 4: Cleaning and look after

Drop that tick in isopropyl alcohol and remember to note down the date when you got the tick. If you see the symptoms of tick-borne illness in your dog such as lameness for more than 3 to 4 days, neurological disorders, appetite loss, swelling of lymph nodes and joints, fatigue, fever, lethargy and arthritis etc. 

Use an antiseptic to clean your dog’s wounds. Wash and clean your hands. Clean the tweezer with isopropyl alcohol.

Yesh! Citrus fruits can also work. Take the peels of orange and lemon, boil them and cool at room temperature for about 24 hours. Once the mixture cools down, strain it and pour it in a spray bottle.

  • Vaccinate your dog for lyme disease and consult your veterinarian for testing the tick-borne disease.
